The Maxoratide Bacteriostatic Water is a sterile, non-pyrogenic solution of water for injection containing 0.9% (9 mg/mL) benzyl alcohol as a bacteriostatic preservative. It is supplied in a multi-dose flip-top vial designed for the safe and controlled reconstitution of lyophilized research compounds.
Mechanism: Why “Bacteriostatic”?
Unlike sterile water for injection, which is intended for single-use only, bacteriostatic water is formulated to support multiple withdrawals from the same vial. The inclusion of benzyl alcohol acts as a preservative, helping inhibit the growth of most common bacterial contaminants for up to 28 days after initial opening.
Preservation Function
The 0.9% benzyl alcohol content works by disrupting microbial cell membranes, helping maintain sterility and stability of the solution during repeated access under proper handling conditions.
Solubility & Compatibility
Bacteriostatic water is widely used as a preferred solvent for peptide reconstitution, as it maintains a suitable pH environment that helps preserve peptide structure and reduces the risk of degradation during preparation.
Usage & Storage
This product is intended strictly as a solvent for research peptide and compound reconstitution. Once the vial is first punctured, a 28-day usage window begins.
- Before opening: Store at room temperature (20–25°C)
- After opening: Store refrigerated at 2–8°C
- Use aseptic technique during all handling procedures
Research Disclaimer
